Numerology is the study of the meaning carried by numbers - in your name, in your birth date, and in the patterns you notice around you. By reducing letters and dates to single digits, it offers a language for self-understanding: your strengths, your timing, and the themes your life tends to return to. It is old, simple, and open to everyone, and it is offered for reflection, never as fortune-telling.

What is numerology?

At its simplest, numerology is the idea that numbers carry meaning - and that the numbers drawn from your name and birth date can be read as a kind of portrait. Letters become numbers, dates fold down to single digits, and each result points to a quality: a strength, a longing, a lesson, a season. It is not a science and it does not predict events. It is a language for noticing yourself more clearly, offered for reflection and self-care.

The five core numbers

Master numbers 11, 22 and 33

When a calculation lands on 11, 22 or 33, the tradition keeps it whole rather than reducing it to a single digit. These are the master numbers. They carry the qualities of their root - 2, 4 and 6 - at a heightened, more demanding pitch, and they are held as neither better nor worse than any other number, simply more intense. Where the meaning comes from

The idea that numbers hold meaning is old - two to three thousand years old, with roots in the Bible and a deeper lineage in Kabbalah and the practice of gematria. A glossary of numerology terms

Life Path number

The central number in numerology, drawn from your full birth date. It points to your natural strengths and the themes your life tends to return to.

Destiny (Expression) number

Calculated from all the letters of your full birth name, it describes what you are here to build and express.

Soul Urge number

Drawn from the vowels of your name, it speaks to your inner motivation - what your heart quietly wants.

Personality number

Drawn from the consonants of your name, it is the side of you that the world tends to meet first.

Master number

The numbers 11, 22 and 33, kept unreduced. They carry the qualities of their root (2, 4 and 6) at a heightened, more demanding pitch.

Karmic debt number

The numbers 13, 14, 16 and 19, read in tradition as lessons to grow into, with a strength waiting on the other side - never a punishment.

Gematria

The older practice of reading the number value of words and names; the seed of the idea that a name carries a number and a meaning.
