Is numerology real?

Numerology is a real tradition, several thousand years old, and it is not a science. It does not make testable predictions. People use it as a language for looking at themselves: letters and dates become numbers, and those numbers become a portrait to sit with. We offer it as insight, not as proof or fortune-telling.
What "real" means here
Numerology is real as a practice: old, written down, and studied in more than one culture. It is not real the way gravity is real. There is no scientific evidence that numbers steer events, and a chart cannot be proven in a lab. Both of those things can be true at once.
Why so many people find it meaningful
